Planeta Winery
Planeta is a family winery established in 1990’s by Diego Planeta. The new project focused the family’s farming activities on wine, first with their historic vineyards in Menfi, slowly expanding across different terroirs of Sicily. Today, Planeta is run by Diego’s daughter Francesca and his nephews Alessio and Santi. The estate farms in five distinct areas of Sicily—Menfi, Vittoria, Noto, Etna and Capo Milazzo—and remains one of the most recognized brands in Italian wine.
Diego truly believed in the potential of Sicilian wine and its terroir, so much so, that he enlisted Giacomo Tachis as a consultant. International grape varieties that are grown today, are perfectly suited to the terroir, Chardonnay being one of the leading varieties.
